How do I Add or Remove Files or Folders from my Backup?
BackupMyStuff comes with a set of rules which help it to determine what to backup on your PC. Using these rules BackupMyStuff will find and backup your email and your 'My Documents' folder(s). It will not backup music or movies or other folders on your PC unless you tell it to by following these instructions.
NOTE: When you remove files or folders from your backup they will be deleted from your saved data in 7 days time. After that you will no longer be able to retrieve these files.
If you want to change which folders or files are backed up, then follow these instructions. To start, open the BackupMyStuff Agent by clicking on Start, ALL PROGRAMS, BACKUPMYSTUFF then click on the BackupMyStuff Program Icon and when the program has opened click on the BACKUPVIEW tab. BackupMyStuff will then scan your system looking for files to backup. This scan can take several minutes. If it appears to be taking more than 20 minutes, disable your antivirus program until your scan has finished. Don't forget to turn your Antivirus program back on afterwards.
Once the scan has completed click on 'Explore to Pick Files' on the lefthand side in the blue panel and the screen should look like the one below. Note the key to the symbols in the blue panel beneath 'Explore to Pick Files'. If you need to make changes make sure that 'Enable Rule Wizard for Files' at the bottom of the screen has a tick in the box next to it.

Next choose the folder or file you want to backup or remove from backup (in the example below we will chose to backup 'My Music') and place a tick in the box to the left of it.

Choose the option you require ( in our case we want to backup the folder 'My Music, so click on the second option). A green tick will then appear next to the folder we have chosen for backup.

Your changes will take effect the next time a backup runs. You can choose to backup immediately by clicking on the Backup Now button or you can wait for the scheduled backup to occur.
